If so, we invite you to consider this opportunity. Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in North Portland plays a vital role as a local and regional leader in serious clinical illness or injury. With around-the-clock expertise for critical health issues, including experts in trauma, heart care, burns, significant wounds, stroke, brain surgery and more, Legacy Emanuel is central to the health of our community and critical to the care of the Northwest. The TRACU (Trauma Recovery Acute Care Unit) is a 33-bed unit that provides care to adult trauma patients. This unit provides care for the patient with acute neurosurgical, orthopedic, and other multisystem trauma injuries. Priority for admission is given to any adult patient with neurosurgical or orthopedic trauma. A variety of interventions including portable ventilators, multisystem trauma care, pain management and blood/blood products administration pre/post op care of adult neurosurgical patients including those requiring ventriculostomy management, may occur in this patient population. ResponsibilitiesThe RN Charge Nurse is accountable for the direct coordination and supervision of unit operations. Serves as a role model and resource for patient care. Provides leadership and promotes team-building among staff. Facilitates communication between staff, physicians, management and all other customers. Is responsible for effective implementation of policies, procedures and standards. QualificationsEducation: Academic degree in nursing (BSN or MSN/MN) required. Experience: One year of relevant clinical experience at proficient to expert level of practice required. Demonstrated knowledge of operations, including staffing and scheduling, budget management, workflow planning, performance management and staff development. Skills: Ability to manage a broad span of control through implementation of a self-directed team approach. Strong communication and leadership skills, and a willingness to lead by example. Must meet requirements of RN Staff Nurse Job Description and performs duties in any clinical capacity as needed.
